The Tree of Life Version (TLV) is now being used on the SIL Translators Workplace! Praise Yeshua! This is BIG news!
SIL International is a faith-based nonprofit organization committed to serving language communities worldwide as they build capacity for sustainable language development. SIL does this primarily through research, translation, training and materials development. SIL works alongside ethnolinguistic communities and their partners as they discover how language development addresses the challenging areas of their daily lives—social, cultural, political, economic and spiritual.
What is the Tree of Life Version (TLV)?
For the first time in history, a team of over 70 Scholars, both Jewish believers in Jesus and Christians, came together and produced a fully vetted translation of the Bible called the Tree of Life Version (TLV).
The Tree of Life Version (TLV) speaks with a decidedly Jewish-friendly voice – a voice like the Bible authors themselves – to recover the authentic context of the Bible and the Christian faith. Yeshua’s death and resurrection were not the beginning of a new religion but the fulfillment of the covenant God made with His chosen and called-out people. Yet most Bible translations lose the connection to the Jewish nature of the Bible. As a result, biblical books that were written to Jews, for Jews, and about Jews lose a critical element – their actual Jewish essence.
What is the SIL Translator’s Workplace?
Translator’s Workplace is a foundational library of reference materials selected for the work of Bible Translation. This extraordinary collection has been gathered to meet the varying needs of translators worldwide and includes Bibles, Greek and Hebrew texts, dictionaries, commentaries, translation handbooks, articles and other reference materials – and now includes the Tree of Life Version (TLV).
How will the Tree of Life Version (TLV) be used?
The Translators Workplace cross-references every Bible translation, in every language, ever created in the history of the world to accurately translate the original manuscripts into a new language without losing or watering down the message.
To effectively reach Semitic cultures with God’s Word, they reached out requesting the TLV be added to the Translator’s Workplace. Semitic culture is much different than Western thought – even the best translators have a difficult time finding the right wording or phrasing to bring over the true meaning without paraphrasing.
“SIL was amazed that the TLV Bible Society created a translation from scratch without tools like the translator’s workplace. We were like cavemen building a skyscraper with only God’s hand to guide us. He is SO good!”Daniah Greenberg
Now, the Tree of Life Version (TLV) can help thousands of translators worldwide translate Bibles into languages and cultures that do not have access to the Good News for themselves. The translators will be able to look at the TLV, among other translations and see how a specific sentence was structured or a word used and will then be able to have a better understanding of how to translate it into the language they are working on. This is an ENORMOUS help to translators worldwide! Glory to God!
It is a great honor for the TLV Bible Society and the TLV Translators, who labored in love for years translating the text, to have the TLV Translation be included on SIL’s Translator’s Platform.
ADONAI, may Your Word be available in every tongue and in every nation! Amen!
